Click on any picture for a full size view. My comments in this
narrative will relate to the Bugeye. I had someone look at the car today
(1/8/08) who used a magnet all over the car. He said the body was
surprising rust free. He did identify foot well patch panels that covered
a solid secure floor. From the underside, the foot well appeared to have
some small rust holes probably allowing wheel splash into the foot well area. It
was very hard to find and see but this person did a very thorough inspection.
He also found a small patch panel near the front top of the right rear axle
spring box. He noted that the area did not appear weak as the car sits
level and the fit of all the body panels and doors have proper fit and gap, but
did seem to keep going back and looking that area over. As I was looking
through my boxes of parts, I didn't see new gauges but did notice extras of the
speedo. All gauges are apparently original and in pretty good shape.
The potential buyer looked over the car for about two hours, made a reasonable
offer, but I didn't accept it. His worry was being able to get a title.
I know the history of this car for the last 35 years and am sure that this car
has no claims or liens. The previous owner was the Police Chief from the
city I grew up in.
The car could be restored very easily to a weekend driver by most any British
car fan with reasonable mechanical knowledge with the parts available in this
sale. The body is very solid and would provide many years of reliable
service.
